THE CALIFORNIA WW1 CENTENNIAL TASK FORCE

“Honoring, Educating and Commemorating”

The California WW1 Centennial Task Force is the established arm of action for the centennial in California.  Recognized by both the United States World War One Centennial Commission and the California State Legislature, the Task Force operates with the approval of the U.S. WW1 Centennial Commission who hosts the California WW1 Centennial Task Force website, and are partners with the national commission under the sanction of the U.S. Congress.

Over the course of the centennial years the Task Force has planned, developed, and executed programs, projects and activities commemorating the centennial of World War One (WW1.) The Task Force’s motto is “Honoring, Educating and Commemorating.” This motto exemplifies the Task Force’s mission which is to  raise awareness and give meaning to the events of one hundred years ago using educational experiences and programming for all ages. The Task Force will use the centennial to educate Californians about the war, and to honor the heroism and sacrifice of those who served.

For more information on the California WW1 Centennial Task Force, visit ww1cc.org/california.

Since the Task Force is not funded by the national commission, or the State of California, it operates solely upon the gifts and donations of supporters like you. Elements such as educational materials, communiques, displays, advertising, notifications, etc. are completely funded by the generosity of donors such as yourself. All Task Force officers are volunteers, and there are no paid staff members. Each step of the California WW1 Centennial Task Force is taken by folks who are all unpaid. Your gift, no matter how small, will help.

To provide financial support for the Task Force’s efforts, checks should be made payable to the:

US Fdn for the Commemoration of the World Wars

(NOTE: It is critical that all donors indicate that they wish to apply their donation to California. For small donations (under $1000) they can simply write “California” or “CA WWI Centennial TF” on the check in the memo section. For donations over $1000, a separate signed letter or note is required (doesn’t have to be long – “Please apply my donation to the California WWI Centennial Task Force” would suffice). The United States Foundation for the Commemoration of the World Wars is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the District of Columbia, and is the official fundraising administrator of the US World War One Centennial Commission.
